“All that spinning, flipping and jumping made for an epic Sunday” my mentee, Kylie, bubbled with an ear-to-ear smile spread across her face as we made our way back to the car.
‘Partners’ is a mentoring program based in the Gunnison Valley for grade school through high school kids to build a mentoring relationship with an “elder” community member. This past Sunday, Partners joined forces with Crested Butte Mountain Resort to offer the experience of a life time for some. CBMR offered ski and snowboard rental equipment, lessons, lift tickets and Adventure Park passes to all participants of the Partners program. Without this partnership, many of these kids would never have the opportunity to enjoy the many opportunities CMBR offers.

Kylie and I caught one of the first chairs of Red Lady, just as the sun was sneaking over the peak.

Even though this was Kylie’s first day of the year on snow, she was ripping it up. Skiing with a 12-year old definitely brought me back to my childhood days of skiing … hitting every little jump on the side of the run and finding the “secret trails” between the trails.

Kylie and I posing for a photo before lunch.

After a phenomenal morning of skiing, the entire Partners group met on the deck of Butte 66 for a group photo and scrumptious pizza lunch.
After a quick trip to the car to take off our ski gear, we were off to the Adventure Park. First stop, the bungee trampoline.

My marathon of backflips quickly ended at three. The turbo-charged, gravity-defying ride is an adrenaline rush! You would never guess how tiring the tramplone is.

After conquring the bungee tampoline we were off to the tubing hill. Neither of us had tried the new CBMR Coke Zero air bag yet.

You get so much air time … can you see Kylie flying through the air?

We made one last stop in the Adventure Park, minature golf. Kylie showed me her skills by getting 3 under par!

After a “hot out of the oven” cookie from the Brown Lab Bakery we were on our way home; exhausted, but with ear-to-ear smiles spread across our faces! Thanks to CBMR for an epic Sunday the Partners members will never forget.
